In a few short weeks I’ll be skiing in North America’s largest cross-country ski race, The American Birkebeiner. While I will only be skiing the half, aka the Kortelopet, it still takes a lot of energy and grit. The past few years I have lived in a part of the Midwest with no access to ski trails. Therefore, my training consisted of running, ellipticaling, and spin class. This year, even though I am closer to ski trails, I’ve been busy taking care of my 5-month-old. Training this year has consisted solely of walking around with him in the carrier and ellipticalling during his carrier naps. I’m hoping that these last few weeks leading up to the race I can get some major cardio in.
For this cardio, I am enlisting the help of my friend, Nuun. Their products include vitamins, energy, and active formulas. The American Birkebeiner has partnered with Nuun in the past to provide electrolytes for their athletes on the course, so I was already familiar with them. I figured I should boost my energy and re-hydrate during my workouts with the same stuff I will be drinking on the course.
Something Nuun does that other rehydration drinks don’t do is create a good variety of flavors. These flavors don’t leave a bad after taste in your mouth like some drinks I’ve tried. Since I am breastfeeding, I need a little more hydration than normal during a workout. Nuun is perfect for me. Especially since it’s gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and uses plant-based sweeteners. It tastes good and is good for you!
Some of their great flavors include Tropical, Lemon Lime, and Fruit Punch. I’d highly recommend Nuun to ‘momletes’ and other athletes everywhere.
