When you have kids, saving money can be hard. Between the diapers, toys, nursery items, food, etc., it eats away at your budget. I’m here to give you some tips that helped us save money in various places.
Grocery and Shopping Apps
Ibotta – This app rewards you for purchasing specific grocery and store items from various locations. Some stores on the app include Target, Pick n Save, and Walmart. There are many stores available to choose from, so make sure to check out the entire list. Before checkout, make sure to select the product deals you want. Once you make a purchase, you will be asked to either upload the receipt and/or scan product bar codes that you purchased. Some stores even let you link your loyalty cards. The app verifies these purchases and gives you money back for the selected deal. The items listed change over time, but many every day groceries are commonly listed such as bananas, apples, bread, and milk. They also list specific brands like Coca Cola or Huggies, for example. Most deals range from .25 cents to $4.00. Once you accumulate $20, you can choose a gift card or get cash back from PayPal. Use this link or code “ihgtgmm” to get the app and get a free $10 on your account when your register and make your first purchase.
Cartwheel – This is a Target specific app for all you Target moms out there. The deals range from 5% off up to 50% off at times. All store departments have various deals that last for a specified amount of days. Some common ones that I like to use are Seventh Generation cleaners, Huggies diapers, Annie’s Organic products, and toilet paper. All you need to do is download the app, choose your deals, and have the cashier scan your Cartwheel bar code at the checkout. They have also added a coupons section that has deals like a $15 gift card if you spend $50 on groceries, for example.
Ebates – Get cash back on the purchases you were already going to make. Kohls, Snapfish, Target, and Walmart are some common Ebates stores I use. The app tends to have higher cash back rates over the website, so I would suggest using the app. Before you decide to buy something online, open Ebates and find the store of choice. Click the link next to said store by the deal you want and start shopping. Not only do they give cash back, but they list coupon codes for various percent off deals or free shipping. They now have an in-store cash back option, as well. Use this link to get started and get $10 free when you make your first purchase!
Coupons and Loyalty Cards
Check out Coupons.com for deals on various products. They always have diaper coupons, which I am a big fan of. I also find a lot of our daily household foods on their site like cereal and boxed noodles.
In-store coupons are also something I look for when I shop. By checking out the store’s weekly flyer, you can find any coupons they are offering that week.
Store loyalty cards can also save your family money. These cards give discounts on grocery items and can usually be used on top of other coupons. Sign up is done at the store’s customer service department. Scan your card at the register to receive the deals.
Tips and Tricks
Another trick I like to do is to use Ebates to make online purchases for in-store pickup. This saves on shipping costs, gets me cash back, and saves time while running my errands. Many times, I find that online prices are cheaper than in-store prices. This is especially true at Target.
Also, most places price match. If you find an item cheaper online or at another store, hit up customer service and let them know. They will give you the lower price.
I hope this helps! Let me know in the comments section how you save money for your family!
